Personal Injury Protection (Pip) | Risks , Dangers , Expenses

Personal injury protection (Pip) is an addition of car insurance, which only exists in certain states. Pip cases are a type of injury claim, which are a “no-fault” type of injury protection (compensation). No fault (blame) or court cases are required unlike most injury claims. You are automatically paid if a couple of particular circumstances exist. These include a car accident/ motorcycle/ and the coverage insurance. There are many documents that you will need, these include car accident report, medical records, and bills. These injury claim cases are for car injuries only.

States that have Pip

  • Florida
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Minnesota
  • Several others

A benefit of Pip insurance is that it will cover the car, medical bills, and most other bills related to the injury. The coverage is limited to the state if you leave it that state it does not cover you. Often times getting this insurance can be a great thing and much cheaper than fighting it out in court like a regular auto injury claim. Personal injury protection is excellent for getting compensation. In addition, it is a much more secure way to get compensation a court case you can lose this is more set in stone.

Most (Pip) cases require good medical documents and insurance documents to determine the amount of money needed.  Getting compensation is easy with this system because the liability is passed straight to the insurance companies. There are no dropping clients to keep profit. Hence better for protection since you are not required to get the liability placed on a business . Personal protection is a great insurance policy so when choosing which state to live in this is something to look for.

Points to Remember

1. Certain States Require You to Sign Up to Pip insurance
2. Personal injury Liabilities goes straight to the Insurance Companies.
3. There is not Court case or no blame (no-fault)
4. This form of insurance is only available in certain states.
5. If you opt out of getting  personal injury protection you will need to inform the state.

For the states that require Pip to exist and people to sign up, there are ways to get out of having to pay extra for insurance. You simply send a written document to the state government telling them you do not want the insurance. This form of insurance is more expensive. However, it is far better when it comes to getting compensation. With most personal injury cases, you will have to hire a lawyer go to court and win the case if the insurance company does not pay. With this system the insurance company has to pay, and you don’t need to claim fault (no-fault). So even though it is a little more costly if you need it odds are it will be there and give you compensation.

(Pip) Personal Injury Protection

Fault compensation cases can be taken up after the personal injury protection pays for the immediate insurance related fees. These include the car, initial medical bills and most related to the injury. This does not do the same thing as an injury claim. An injury claim is used to get your full salary from a person or company for damage caused. So even though your medical bills are covered you’re not working and Pip insurance does not cover your full salary maximum $200 a week. You can also file for additional funding from a person if they cause the car accident generally called auto injury claims. For this compensation, you will need to go to court and must hire lawyers. This is a Fault injury claim where you have to prove the negligence of other people, and it has to fall in between very specific laws.

In the end, you will have to decide if you want personal injury protection insurance. Most who have it don’t every need it, those that need it are very grateful they had it.  Injury is a very big deal and getting every form of compensation is important. Every state is different some states excuse certain bills that need to be paid under Pip and some other stuff so do your research and find out more. There are more states converting over to the personal protection system because the residences like the easy compensation. Some get the Pip compensation the medical, car insurance, and health related bills paid for and then file an injury claim. This gives them the best of both worlds if they win the court case.  There are some states that are very touchy about doing this and will restrict certain compensations if you try this trick.  Other relevant information might include personal injury claims, personal injury compensation, and other injury claims.
